The Big Apple has long been a global center of ambition and innovation. After passing the Climate Mobilization Act last April, NYC became the largest city on the planet to formally declare a “climate emergency” in June. The city’s blueprint to reach a 100% reduction in net GHG emissions by 2050 is outlined in its comprehensive One NYC 2050 plan. New York State has followed suit, passing the country’s most ambitious climate targets to date, including 100% carbon-free electricity by 2040 and economy-wide, net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
